MEET AJ Rich
Hi, I’m AJ Rich (he/him), and I’m so glad you’ve found me. I became a therapist to help people. And that’s exactly what I try to do every day & every session. I consider myself a generalist, meaning I can treat & often see a wide variety of therapy-related issues. But I am most passionate about working with people who are ready to do the work. You’ might’ve been sitting on your hands & waiting to get started, or you’ve been in a lot of a therapy already that just didn’t feel alive or like you were making meaningful growth or change. As a male therapist, I see a lot of guys in my practice. And couples. But what they all have in common is that readiness to dive in and work together with me to see if we can get this train back on the rails – in whatever that means to you. I don’t drive, but I am happy to ride shotgun and hold the map.
My creds: I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California & a licensed telehealth provider across Florida. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Arts in Psychology from California Southern University & am currently a doctoral candidate there writing my dissertation in organizational psychology. I primarily work from a psychodynamic & relational lens, with EFT for couples & integration of IFS & EMDR as needed. I began my clinical training at Valley Community Counseling Clinic & Teen Line & had the privilege of being mentored in private practice by Marina Talley Chatterton. I’ve had the privilege of being trained by some incredible teachers: Sue Johnson, Frank Anderson, Dan Siegel, Philip Manfield, Helen LaKelly Hunt, & Harville Hendrix to name just a few! In addition to private practice, I also am on licensed clinical staff at Coldwater Counseling Center in Studio City. I primarily work with individual adults, couples, & older teens on a wide variety of mental health issues & concerns. In addition to seeing clients, I have the privilege and honor of supervising associate psychotherapists that are pursuing licensure in California.
Areas of Specialization: Individual Adult Therapy, Couples Therapy, Men’s Mental Health, Adults & Individuation/Independence, Big Life Transitions, Depression, Anxiety, LGBT+ folks, Kink+Open Dynamics, Corporate Executives, Recovering Perfectionists & People Pleasers, Trauma, Therapist-as-Client, & Relationship Strains. Email for organizational/group psychological consultations or services: aj@ajrichtherapy.com
Before becoming a therapist, AJ spent nearly two decades climbing the corporate ladder before taking the leap and leaving to pursue his lifelong dream. It was scary! This unique perspective and changing course mid-way through life offers clients an outlook that is full of compassion & respect for each person’s individual journey that is unique to them. AJ thinks that is important for his clients to know that he has done, and is still doing, his own personal work in therapy and desires you to feel seen & heard just as you are when you come to my practice. This is a judgement-free supportive zone for you.
Accepting new in-person or telehealth clients on weekday evenings & mornings, +telehealth clients on alternate days and times.
As a therapist, I am motivated by a genuine curiosity about your unique experience and a desire to help you uncover inner sources of strength and resilience and to deepen your self-understanding. These discoveries can help you to face current challenges that seem overwhelming and to get unstuck in parts of your life that are not working the way you want or need.
I consider it a privilege to be part of the journey of therapy with my clients, and to be a supportive witness to their growth. The dedicated space I offer in therapy, built on a strong therapeutic bond with my clients, represents an opportunity to explore new ways of being and relating that translate into productive changes in your life.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brown University and my master’s in clinical psychology at Antioch University, and did my clinical training at Counseling West. As an associate therapist, I work under the license and supervision of AJ Rich.

Hi there, I’m Michelle, and I am glad you’ve found me! I am passionate about working with folks to help them access a deeper self-understanding, an improved connection to others, & growth that emerges through the powerful forces of healing. My clients include adolescents, individual adults, couples, & families experiencing a broad scope of concerns.
I emphasize & foster connection, compassion, collaboration in my work, & strive not only to see & hear my clients, but also to understand them in the multiple contexts within which they exist, in the safety of a judgement-free zone. My therapeutic approach is relational, active, & client centered, & I believe my clients already hold the answers they are seeking. I help them “peel the layers” to uncover the roots of their challenges & discomforts, identify roadblocks to change, & call on their strengths & courage to move forward.
I draw on my experience as a mother, partner, former teacher & parent educator, & have an affinity for working with parents, adolescents, & families experiencing challenges that may include discord in the relationship or adjustments to the emotional complexities of parenthood. I also draw on my lived & clinical experiences of being a member of “the sandwich generation” as a caretaker for both the generation above and below me at the same time & my extensive background working with clients impacted by severe illness and cancer, including patients, caregivers, & those navigating and living with grief.
Life & relationships can be hard. Working with a therapist has the potential to help you navigate challenges, heal, & shift toward the existence you envision for yourself. I’m currently accepting new clients & welcome you to reach out today via email or telephone for a complimentary 20-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you. I am supervised by AJ Rich, LMFT.
Our team has experience working with adults, couples, & teenagers that struggle with anxiety, depression, communication, trauma, loss, chronic illness, and perhaps have reached an impasse with moving forward within a career, relationship, or other life events. Individuality and diversity are paramount and AJ Rich Family Therapy welcomes those that might be described as outside the box. Clients describe us as direct yet warm, empathetic, and understanding as you navigate together with us how to process the blocks that can obstruct your view and ability to move forward. Our clients can expect to explore life events from the past as patterns of behavior emerge in the here-and-now. As this self-awareness begins to develop, clients can often lead more joyful and connected lives. Our team caters each session according to that unique individual (or couple/family) using real-life examples and the material you provide to deepen your own understanding of YOU.
